Holiday Buying Reports Mixed Results
Queens Shopping / January 2010. Early reports from retailers provided a mixed picture of commercial activity this past holiday season. Some retailers reported reasonably good results vs year ago, while others' reports weren't as positive. A few reported fairly poor results as the winter snowstorms over two of the holiday shopping weekends impacted results.

Shops In Queens Seeing More Activity
Astoria / Sunnyside / Jackson Heights / May 11, 2009. It seems Queens shoppers are beginning to show some signs of life. We interviewed shopkeepers in Astoria, Sunnyside and Jackson Heights for this report. While none of the shopkeepers we interviewed were particularly bullish, many were beginning to see a pick up from the downward spiral that began last fall.

In Astoria, we talked to a number of furniture store owners. Queens Shopping - Black Friday 2008 We did a survey of the shopping districts in Queens on Black Friday. Specifically we went into the shopping districts in Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Forest Hills and Jamaica. We found fairly good street activity, but not much in terms of seeing people carrying holiday packages and store bags.
