Queens Transportation Hub
The Jamaica Train Station in the Jamaica section / neighborhood of Queens is the busiest transportation hub in Queens and all of Long Island. It serves as the transportation hub for the Long Island Railroad [LIRR] through which trains leaving and arriving from all points on Long Island, save the Port Washington line, are funneled prior to ending up in Penn Station in NYC.
Public Transit To / From JFK Airport To New York City NYC
The hub also provides connections to the NYC subway lines at the Sutphin Blvd / Archer Ave / JFK Airport stop. At this station one connects to the E line which travels through Queens, as well as the J and Z lines, which travel through Queens into Brooklyn and Manhattan. There are also connections to JFK airport via the Air Train which was completed in 2006, in tandem with major renovations to the train station. The station is adjacent to a major MTA bus terminal for many bus lines throughout the southeastern neighborhoods of Queens.
The general area has been host to a train station for over 150 years.
